Valen is a passionate spokesperson for polycystic kidney disease (PKD), organ donation and kidney research. Valen received a kidney transplant 14.5 years ago and has shared her journey at more than 90 events across North America in hopes to inspire and educate others. Valen had skin cancer removed from her shoulder and respects the importance of protection from the sun, especially for those with transplants who take immunosuppressant medications. She finds it very therapeutic and rejuvenating to breathe fresh air, soak in the sun and take in the beauty that surrounds her. She is grateful for each new day and strives to make the most of the gift of life she received. Valen is thankful to have the Aloha UV shirt to help her lead a healthy and fun lifestyle, where she can enjoy the outdoors and feel confident that she is taking the best care of herself and the second chance of life she was given.
